What is it?
Forex is an acronym for foreign exchange. According to Wikipedia, it is a form of exchange for the global decentralized trading of international currencies. In other words, it is the trading of currencies from different countries against each other. Forex trading is done through a market maker or most known as the broker. A typical transaction would show a party purchasing a quantity of one currency by paying a quantity of another currency through the broker. This means that once you have made your order, the broker then passes the order to a partner in the Interbank Market to fill your position. An interbank is like a backroom where groups of people make deals. When you decide to close your trade, the broker also closes the position on the Interbank Market and credits your account with the loss or gain. All of these can happen in just a few seconds.
